MORE THAN JUST COINCIDENCE BY JULIE WASSMER-BOOK REVIEW

img_1726

Julie Wassmer

After reading the blurb on the back of this book and listening to Julie talk about it at The Folkestone book festival, I knew it was going to be good but what I didn’t realise was that it would be the best life story I had ever read.

In some ways it seems like a story so you have to keep reminding yourself that this is all real.  I love the way it all comes together at the right time as if it was all planned to happen that way.

Twenty years are a long time to wait for happiness even though it was all worth waiting for and then love came along for Julie as well.  This bought a tear to my eye at the end and I was so pleased everything worked out ok.  Julie can now enjoy her writing and her grandchildren who I can imagine she spoils lots.

This is a good 5 stars and I would recommend this story to everyone, it really is a feel good book.

DAY OUT WITH IZZY

My day out with Izzy just had to include a frozen yoghurt place, we decided to try a different one and it has shown us how good the first place is. None of this was self-service so there was not a lot of toppings and not very much choice either. Actually the ‘frozen yoghurt’ tasted more like ice cream and not yoghurt at all. Next time we will go back to the one in Camden as that is the best.

Dinner that evening was steak and chips as that is Izzy’s favourite, I never really like having steak out as you can never guarantee it will be tender. This one was a bit chewy but Izzy liked it and ate most of mine as well. The chips were lovely so not all bad.

A good day out and now half term is just about over with them all back to school on Monday, next holiday will be easter but I have a couple of birthdays before then so I better get saving.

LUNCH AT THE PULLMAN, FOLKESTONE

Half term has to include a lunch date so we decided to try somewhere different, I have read a lot of good reviews about this pub and I have to say they were all right as it is a lovely place for a drink or meal, also having a garden that is very popular in the summer.

Prices are very reasonable, with a great choice, there is a children’s menu but these two wanted fish and chips, which they both ate all up.  We didn’t try the desserts as too full but maybe next time.

AS ANOTHER WEEK STARTS

As fast as the snow arrived it disappeared but not before Jade had a quick ride on Samson in it, did not appear to bother either of them but I am sure it must be more fun in the sunshine.

I acquired myself a record player and was very pleased to discover that it had a CD drive and a cassette deck, radio and aux plug, the sound is great and I am so pleased with it, even more so in that it only cost me £30 and they are selling new for £145 my bargain of the month I think.  I then spent all Saturday listening to all my old records, such good memories.  I love it when so many of the songs you can actually remember an event that happened at that time.  I don’t feel that happens now a days or am I just too old and nothing much happens any more?

I was 6 years old when that christmas song came out and I have never heard it play on TV or radio since then.  Typical teenager writing all over Donny Osmond cover for Puppy Love, you can not beat the original, then summer of my life; 14 and heartbroken.  Many more happy memories that last forever.  I am very cross with myself for chucking out all my old cassettes and I only did that about 6 months ago, gutted.

Mia and Zac came for dinner and Peaches was trying her very best to ignore them and go sleep and then hissed at me as if I was the one waking her up!   The children are all on half term for the week so I have a movie night planned with Jodie and a trip to London with Izzy.  I am not filling myself up too much as still get really tired and out of breath so a bit of reading and writing will be my lot for the week.  Have a great week what ever you are doing x

NORMAL SERVICE HAS RESUMED

It is so good to feel back to normal after so long and it was nice seeing Mia and Zac for a couple of hours this afternoon, Nanny is back.

This candle smells so lovely, definitely my favourite at the moment.  They are expensive the Baylis and Harding things but really worth it, their diffuser’s are the best.

It is also good to have my web-site and blog all sorted and up to date and seeing my stats go back up with all my readers back, I have missed you all.

It is very cold here at the moment and they keep saying we are getting snow but not had any yet, thank goodness.  I am all warm indoors though and getting sorted to watch the Blacklist tonight, I really love that program.  I have a new sky box and cables so it’s like watching an even newer TV as the picture is so clear and crisp.

Half term here now, not many plans except a day out with Izzy which should be nice as we always have fun.

Have a great weekend everyone x

HAVE YOU MISSED ME?

To say that I have been and still am a bit poorly does not seem enough as for a couple of days I wondered if I would end up in hospital.  When your chest is burning with an acute pain that goes right through to your back and the more you try to stop yourself coughing the worse it gets…..yer all that and a temperature that would not go, the doctor thought pleurisy so put me on strong antibiotics.  I still have the awful cough, breathless and sore chest but I actually opened the laptop today so I am on the right road, I just think this will take a while for my lungs to recover and of course they would do it quicker if the flipping cough did one!

I have read a couple of books but that is about all I have done, not even wanting to sit up let alone get up.  The cat has loved it as laying on the bed all day is one of her favourite pastimes, with company even better.

So, what have I missed?  I keep seeing a poll to sign about stopping Trump coming to UK, can’t see that happening, I love the way he is making so many new friends…..LOL

I would like to say thank you to my two daughters for keeping an eye on me and Sylvie for popping in with pineapple juice, was very nice as cold and refreshing.  Might need some help this week as not up to anything much just yet.  My aim is to be fit by the 8th for our monthly lunch date at least it is only over the road from myself so not far to walk.

BANK NOTES BY CAROLINE GIAMMANCO-BOOK REVIEW

The true story of the Boonie Hat Bandit

fullsizeoutput_abc

Caroline sent me this book to review and I am afraid to say it got a bit lost in my to-be read list but all is well as I have now finished it.  I was not expecting a true story so that got my interest straight away as there is nothing like the truth about things.

I think it would appeal to Americans or people interested in the judicial hearings as there is a lot of information packed into this story.  It makes you realise what it is like there and how hard it is for people in jail.  The red tape surrounds just about everything making things so hard.

Sometimes people do things for all the wrong reasons but cannot see that at the time and that is what this story is about.  Bank robberies that were committed by one sole man so he could pay his debts and keep the roof over his kids heads.  He pays dearly for this and in fact is still paying as he is still incarcerated.  The thing that keeps him going is the teacher he met and fell in love with and this proved to be a love that would stand the test of time and go on forever as Caroline Giammanco writes this story and tells you all.
