MORE THAN JUST COINCIDENCE BY JULIE WASSMER-BOOK REVIEW

img_1726

Julie Wassmer

After reading the blurb on the back of this book and listening to Julie talk about it at The Folkestone book festival, I knew it was going to be good but what I didn’t realise was that it would be the best life story I had ever read.

In some ways it seems like a story so you have to keep reminding yourself that this is all real.  I love the way it all comes together at the right time as if it was all planned to happen that way.

Twenty years are a long time to wait for happiness even though it was all worth waiting for and then love came along for Julie as well.  This bought a tear to my eye at the end and I was so pleased everything worked out ok.  Julie can now enjoy her writing and her grandchildren who I can imagine she spoils lots.

This is a good 5 stars and I would recommend this story to everyone, it really is a feel good book.

AS ANOTHER WEEK STARTS

img_2428

As fast as the snow arrived it disappeared but not before Jade had a quick ride on Samson in it, did not appear to bother either of them but I am sure it must be more fun in the sunshine.

I acquired myself a record player and was very pleased to discover that it had a CD drive and a cassette deck, radio and aux plug, the sound is great and I am so pleased with it, even more so in that it only cost me £30 and they are selling new for £145 my bargain of the month I think.  I then spent all Saturday listening to all my old records, such good memories.  I love it when so many of the songs you can actually remember an event that happened at that time.  I don’t feel that happens now a days or am I just too old and nothing much happens any more?

I was 6 years old when that christmas song came out and I have never heard it play on TV or radio since then.  Typical teenager writing all over Donny Osmond cover for Puppy Love, you can not beat the original, then summer of my life; 14 and heartbroken.  Many more happy memories that last forever.  I am very cross with myself for chucking out all my old cassettes and I only did that about 6 months ago, gutted.

Mia and Zac came for dinner and Peaches was trying her very best to ignore them and go sleep and then hissed at me as if I was the one waking her up!   The children are all on half term for the week so I have a movie night planned with Jodie and a trip to London with Izzy.  I am not filling myself up too much as still get really tired and out of breath so a bit of reading and writing will be my lot for the week.  Have a great week what ever you are doing x

THE WHITSTABLE PEARL MYSTERY BY JULIE WASSMER-BOOK REVIEW

img_1728

I know I read a lot of books but every so often you come across an author who you just love and you want to read every single thing they have written.  Julie Wassmer is one such author and to make it even better she is such a lovely person when you meet her.

This was the first book for me to read of Julie’s and I am already on the second which is a life story then all the other mystery’s are on my ‘I must buy list’

These are all set in my part of the world so they mean even more as you can really picture where she is talking about but even if you did not know, the descriptions are so very well written that you can just imagine what it is like.

The characters are wonderful and all go together really well so you are looking forward to what happens to them next all the time.  I never once guessed who committed the murders so it just keeps you turning the pages, don’t think that you will be going to sleep early once you start reading this as I was up half the night, just one more page!  You know its good when that happens.

I can also let you in on a little secret  that the rights have been bought by a major TV station, what a brilliant drama this is going to make.  I cannot wait, make your way to the oyster festival this year in Whitstable and you will see what a wonderful place it is.

SUNDAY LOVE

IMG_0297

I am looking forward to a good week after being ill for nearly four weeks I think I am coming out the other side, I am not saying I am 100% but I can see light at the end of the tunnel.  I also really want to get back into my writing and I have not felt like that for a long time.  The only thing I have been doing is reading and wow have I read some great books lately, check out the reviews on my page.

So, what is the love about?

Valentines Day, when did it become February full of love month?  I have nothing against love but for all us single girls it does all become a bit much, every magazine, paper, TV station, adverts, advertising boards all full of bloody love.  I really do not think that all the people who wish to buy a card or present need so much reminding about what they can get and where, we are not stupid.  Rant over, have a great day x

A MOTHER’S STORY BY AMANDA PROWSE-BOOK REVIEW

What a heart wrenching story but I am still glad that I read it as it really brings it home how some women suffer from post natal depression, I would not wish it upon anyone.  A truly magical love story that falls apart so tragically and so easily because people did not realise, thank god it is picked up much better now.  I love Amanda’s books as they are so true to life, I just hope she has not gone through all the trauma she writes about.

Wonderful characters that bring this to life and make it all so good to read.

HAVE YOU MISSED ME?

To say that I have been and still am a bit poorly does not seem enough as for a couple of days I wondered if I would end up in hospital.  When your chest is burning with an acute pain that goes right through to your back and the more you try to stop yourself coughing the worse it gets…..yer all that and a temperature that would not go, the doctor thought pleurisy so put me on strong antibiotics.  I still have the awful cough, breathless and sore chest but I actually opened the laptop today so I am on the right road, I just think this will take a while for my lungs to recover and of course they would do it quicker if the flipping cough did one!

I have read a couple of books but that is about all I have done, not even wanting to sit up let alone get up.  The cat has loved it as laying on the bed all day is one of her favourite pastimes, with company even better.

So, what have I missed?  I keep seeing a poll to sign about stopping Trump coming to UK, can’t see that happening, I love the way he is making so many new friends…..LOL

I would like to say thank you to my two daughters for keeping an eye on me and Sylvie for popping in with pineapple juice, was very nice as cold and refreshing.  Might need some help this week as not up to anything much just yet.  My aim is to be fit by the 8th for our monthly lunch date at least it is only over the road from myself so not far to walk.

THE NIGHT BOOK BY RICHARD MADELEY-BOOK REVIEW

Another brilliant story, the first I have read of Richard Madeley and it won’t be the last.  Great flow and very smooth the way it leads on, the two main characters are super.  Even though it all gets so bad you always want a happy ending as it really makes you feel that they should be together for ever.  Very realistic court writing and you can just imagine a police detective to be like this a bit like a dog with a bone.  This deserves five stars as it kept me turning the pages all day, I was never sure how it would all end.  Put this on your to-buy list today.
