It was that time of the month again, yes the ladies that lunch met again. We returned to The Blacksmiths Arms again as we all really enjoyed the food and atmosphere last time we were there. We were all on time with no mishaps but that didn’t last long as when carol was opening her presents the wrapping paper caught fire, I am chuckling to myself as I write this but it was really funny and then she pushed the fire over to Corinne. I really did try to get my camera out quick but failed. Carol was pleased with her presents so all good.
We decided on mains and a dessert, the desserts are so scrumptious here. The mains ranged from scampi, ham egg and chips, sausages and salmon and prawns with no complaints at all. The service is lovely with nothing too much trouble and piped music at just the correct volume for chatting.
Two ladies were missing today due to prior engagements but next month we have our christmas lunch so we will be the full group of nine. I have told them not to be ill! lol
Next was the decision of dessert, it took a while as there was so much choice, they also had a specials board. In the end we had the top four from the menu plus profiterols.
I think these desserts are in my top ten well the banoffee pie is that I had. Lots to talk about and catch up on, it was lovely to hear all the news.
Liz surprised us all with a present that I thought was so lovely and have put it in my garden already. The most beautiful poppy that will last forever. Thank you so much Liz.
Sending hugs to everyone as I have had a lovely afternoon at my daughters house for my grandsons 6th birthday, he seems to have grown so quick and very clever as he read all the words in his card. My other daughter and son where there today so all 8 grandchildren were present but I forgot to get a picture, I will manage it one day! The two babies were very good and each showing their own little characters. I wish they all didn’t grow up so quick, they are all so adorable as babies. Alfie had a great birthday with some super presents, that make you feel old as you have never heard of them. A brilliant bank holiday Monday was had by all.
Yesterday I woke extremely early with lots to say so I typed up a blog post and I must say it was one of my best, deciding to add a picture of Christmas at the end I went through and did what I always do but then changed my mind on the picture so clicked discard, panic. Where did the post go? I am sure you realise that it went, never to be seen again, not in trash or draft or anywhere. I then spent the day trying to remember all what I had written but the discard button had obviously worked on my head as well, gone and forgotten.
The grandchildren have their Christmas trees up and their excitement is increasing with each day, the reindeer food was purchased at the school Christmas fair and the songs are being practised for the church service. My mammoth wrapping section took me six hours on my own resulting in shoulders and fingers extremely sore for a few days but all is now complete so I can relax. Outfits are sorted for the holiday period including new Jamas as I am sure their will be a jama movie day under soft throws eating munch with the kids.
The children were very amused that I had bought an advent calendar for the cat then implying that I would be talking to her next……..I did not confess that I do already and it is so much nicer than having a man to talk to as she agrees with everything I say! She did not agree with the contents of the calendar though, looking at me as if I had put lots of green veg down for her, it did look a bit like mashed up green veg all gone hard! I then gave it to Izzy and Alfie to share between their four cats, yes four, one for each child. I am yet to hear what the cats thought of green veg!
I am finding it very hard to do any writing as the days I feel all enthused and bursting with ideas I seem to be busy, then the days I have set to do writing I seem to have a blank mind and end up reading a book or watching a movie, normally a Christmas one.
The Christmas lunch with all my friends lasted about four hours with wonderful presents received and an awful lot of laughing and fun shared. Friday evening we have a big family meal in the local restaurant to celebrate Kara’s 16th birthday, where does the time go it seems only yesterday I was watching her being born, that being the most amazing experience of my life. Then this time next week will see the arrival of another grandchild, happy times for everyone.
What a lovely day I had yesterday with Izzy up in London, she enjoyed herself so much. I took her to the Tower of London and as we got two for the price of one entrance fee with the train ticket it was very reasonable. There is so much to see and watch there it really is amazing, the staff are lovely and tell you all about some of the things and the jewels. They act out little scenarios from history, which is so good for the children as they enjoy and learn at the same time. The vault that the queens jewels are in is amazing and security very tight but not very noticeable, the size of the stones and diamonds are a unbelievable.
Today one of my granddaughters was 11, they are all growing up so quick it is making me feel very old. Jade is a lover of horses and goes riding and helps at the yard so birthday presents had a very horsey theme to them.
After a busy couple of days I will not be doing a lot over the weekend as I am shattered and I think the weather man was telling fibs as it was raining today and it is going to rain tomorrow. So much for it being nice and hot on Sunday 😒
I have got my homework to do though so I can write up my ten minute play I have written and get it printed out.
