LADIES WHO LUNCH AT THE HUNGRY HORSE, FOLKESTONE, KENT

I have to say that this was one of the best lunches we have had as not only was the company outstanding as always but the service and food was so wonderful and to prove how great it all was we have booked up here for March and April.

Considering it was my first time out it was so good to see all my friends as I have missed them loads.  Lynda was back from gallivanting in Spain then Madera with her daughter, Sharon was missing as she was in London with the hubby.  Carol is off to Australia for March to see her daughter so she will be missed next time but then in April we should have the full 9 of us.  April’s could get messy as it will be Corinne’s birthday lunch and then she is staying at mine, I can see cocktails and all sorts going on.  I can’t wait!

Very nice wine for £7 on a Wednesday but we just had three bottles this time.

As usual the food was delicious with no complaints from any of us, well that is not including Jackie and her dessert, you can guarantee she will get the dodgy one where ever she goes lol.

There were a few conversations about Corinnes MEAT (sausages) but I am afraid I cannot print them but it did cause rather a lot of laughing.

This month we celebrated Jackies birthday and she got some lovely presents, some I really wanted for myself.  Jackie had the baked Alaska but the meringue was rather runny so she said!  I love the desserts at Hungry Horse and even better was the fact that I had a voucher for free desserts so we all had to have one, I know there are only four pictures but we were too busy getting stuck in lol.

Sheila gave us a few laughs as she finished the bottle of wine, then when the bill was paid we all had a smile on our face as it worked out to £8 each what an absolute bargain.  Looking forward to next month and more laughs.

HAVE YOU MISSED ME?

To say that I have been and still am a bit poorly does not seem enough as for a couple of days I wondered if I would end up in hospital.  When your chest is burning with an acute pain that goes right through to your back and the more you try to stop yourself coughing the worse it gets…..yer all that and a temperature that would not go, the doctor thought pleurisy so put me on strong antibiotics.  I still have the awful cough, breathless and sore chest but I actually opened the laptop today so I am on the right road, I just think this will take a while for my lungs to recover and of course they would do it quicker if the flipping cough did one!

I have read a couple of books but that is about all I have done, not even wanting to sit up let alone get up.  The cat has loved it as laying on the bed all day is one of her favourite pastimes, with company even better.

So, what have I missed?  I keep seeing a poll to sign about stopping Trump coming to UK, can’t see that happening, I love the way he is making so many new friends…..LOL

I would like to say thank you to my two daughters for keeping an eye on me and Sylvie for popping in with pineapple juice, was very nice as cold and refreshing.  Might need some help this week as not up to anything much just yet.  My aim is to be fit by the 8th for our monthly lunch date at least it is only over the road from myself so not far to walk.

5 YEARS-STATS & PROGRESS FOR MY BLOG

To say I am pleased is not really enough as these figures blew me away, apart from how many followers I have on Facebook, don’t really understand that unless they just want to be friends but then I guess they are following me anyway.

So 5 years of blogging, I never thought it would last this long but I am truly pleased and thank you all for being a part of this from what ever platform you follow from, I love you all.

RESOLUTIONS

Halfway through january and how are we all doing with the resolutions we made 18 days ago?  Is it really only 18 days as it feels like forever, I bet it feels even longer if your waiting until the end of the month for payday.

Diets……What a stupid time of the year to decide to go on a diet, its cold, miserable and all you want to do is eat nice homely meals with gorgeous desserts then sit on the sofa and eat popcorn and chocolates while watching a film.  I think it is best if we hold of on these diets and start in Spring when the weather is nice to go outside for a bit of exercise or do the gardening, also all you want to eat are salads which taste even better if grown by your own hands.

Dry January…..I think we can stick with this one as who wants to get ready and go out in the cold just to meet friends for a drink.

Saving money…..Very easy to do these first few months as you got everything you wanted for Christmas or in the sales, anyway your waiting for the summer clothes to spend your money on later in the year.

Positive thinking…..I have done well with this one as I just have to think of my family and friends and that is all the positivity I need.

How are you doing and have you stuck with yours?

PHYLLIS McDOWELL

R.I.P Phyllis, a truly lovely person inside and out, loved by so many in Folkestone where she lived and the many places she visited and spent time at.

I first met Phyllis at an open day at her studio where she also lived, very close to myself.  As soon as I saw the front of her house I knew she had taste…..Pink heaven!

I helped her with some social media promotion and did some blogs about her and her teaching.  She was a very talented artist, loved by so many people.  I attended her class and learnt so much from her, she fed my thirst for painting and the arts.

Her favourite painting was the first one below of her daughter Lucy McDowell.

Spending time with many in the community and supporting causes her name would always pop up at the many social events.

She will be missed by so many people, I still cannot really get my head around that I won’t see her again.

It was so nice to see her painting out in the community, capturing so many memories, I particularly liked the one she did out on the Harbour Arm of the group that were playing.  I am not sure how she managed to get the painting completed as so many friends old and new would stop, admire and chat.

Her paintings were shown far and wide at the many exhibitions to promote her work or even just so many people could admire her unique pictures.

My thoughts and prayers go to the many people she called family and loved with all her heart.  It was a joy to have known and spent time with you  Phyllis, I will remember you always.

All my love Karen xx

Here are some of the posts about Phyllis that you can read on my blog.

LADIES WHO LUNCH-HUNGRY HORSE IN FOLKESTONE

I am sure you all won’t be at all surprised when I tell you that I forgot to take any pics of meals but I did remember the two desserts, which were delicious.

Lynda was missing today as she is still laying about in Spain, lucky lady.  We celebrated Liz’s birthday so a few bottles of wine went down really well.  The food and service were both very good, quick and all cooked to perfection with no complaints from any of us.  In fact all the girls liked it so much we decided to go here again next month.  Brilliant day x
