FRANCE DISRUPTION ON OUR ROADS AND DECORATING NEWS

My grandaughter Jade looking very smart for her show, very proud Nanny moment that I had to share with you.

I do believe that summer is at last here, we have had a few days of lovely sunshine.  The garden has blossomed and is looking great, even if I do say so myself.  I have ordered myself one of these swinging chairs so I can’t wait for that to be delivered and the best bit is it has a waterproof canopy, just in case lol.  FullSizeRender (4) - Copy
I am not going away this year as am in the process of getting a shower fitted, you would think that would be easy but no, I need plumber and electrician and they are like gold dust.  Then you have to decide which shower to buy, have you any idea how many there are?  It is a nightmare, why can’t things be simple.  Then I will need a painter for the walls, I am getting exasperated already. I have at last had some shelves and a cupboard put up that I have been waiting 18 months for, they do say that everything comes to those that wait.  Very annoying the waiting, it’s times like this I wish I had a handyman. FullSizeRender - Copy (2)
I am also getting a new bed next month with lots of storage underneath, this will come in very handy for shoes and bags!  No, I am not counting them.
In some ways I am very pleased not to be flying abroad with all these terrorists threats and attacks this year.  Tunisia was awful, so many lives lost for nothing.
I live near the channel tunnel and the Port of Dover so my main motorway is the M20.  Because of the striking action in France the ferries cannot leave Dover so all the transport lorries have no where to go so the police park them on the motorway and close it off between some junctions.  Then the A roads get full of traffic, this all means that a trip from Ashford to Folkestone which takes 15 minutes can now take over 2 hours! Yes, you read that right.  Everybody is complaining about it and there was a petition started last week that has thousands of names on it already.  We have a spare airport at Manston that they are deciding what to do with at the moment so that could be used to park some trucks. At the moment end of school education trips to France have been cancelled, the children have been looking forward to this all year.  People have to decide whether to risk it and go over to France on holiday with the knowledge that they may get stuck over there for a while if the ferries go on strike or more people decide to go for a walk through the channel tunnel.  Apparently some more did last night so today all roads are blocked, just what you need after a days work; 3 hours on top of your journey to get home!

On top of that we have the channel tunnel but the French have not put fences and security up like we have this end so it has meant that some migrants are getting into the tunnel and walking through it.  The most horrific thing about this is that a terrorist could so easily get in there with a bomb!  Why is nothing being done, this has happened twice that we know about in the last week. Very, very scary.  Some have suggested that we send the Army over there to control it but why should we pay for that, surely there must have been some agreement made about security on the French side when the tunnel was first opened.
The money all this disruption costs is ridiculous and then you have toilets, food and water delivered all along the motorway for the truck drivers and who pays for that?  The British people of course but it should be the French as they are causing it.
Then the lorries that are stuck waiting in France to come across to Britain are then targeted by the migrants as they climb on axles etc and in cold storage and anywhere else they can hide.  If they make it then the lorry driver is fined even though he didn’t know they were there.  All he can do is make sure everything is locked but they manage to get everywhere.
Why should it be just the UK that has to accept the migrants.  If all the European countries put their border controls back up then they would not get as far and maybe put them off trying to get here.  I agree some have awful lives but our jobs, schools, NHS cannot support us British people who all pay taxes let alone thousands of migrants.
Border controls will also stop so many children disappearing through different countries. Also the selling of dogs with no proper paperwork.  There are a lot more positive points for this to happen, why can the powers that be not see this?
The people of Kent have had enough and nothing appears to be happening to stop any of it.
That is the end of my huge moan. Just wish the powers that be would take notice of us little people that put up with it all daily.

  2. Wow, so much drama! Seems like France is the target if a lot of terrorism lately, one would have imagined they would beef up security all around. Sorry there is so much disruption in your daily routine. Lovely pic of granddaughter. Hope Your Weekend Goes well
