Last week was our monthly lunch date but very different and extremely quiet as Corinne is still in Corfu, Jackie is not well and Sheila had to go and look after her Mum. It was great to catch up with Sylvie and Sharon though and exchange stories of the summer and holidays. We decided on New Romney for lunch as that is where Sharon, Sylvie and Jackie live. There are many pubs to choose from for a pub lunch and we settled on The Warren which is situated on the main road but with a car park.
This is a very traditional old English pub and if I am honest it could do with a lick of paint to brighten it all up. The menu is vast for a small pub and some things are home cooked. We all settled on what we were having and had a catch up over a glass of wine. We didn’t have to wait long and the dinner was served. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick.
Sharon had the goats cheese pie and she loved it and I must say it did look good and it was one of those times that I wished I had picked that instead of my turkey in white wine sauce, which Sylvie had as well.
I am very sorry to say though that the turkey was so hard round the edges you could not even cut it, the sauce was very watery and the biggest fault was the lumps in the mash potato which were so big I do not think they even saw the masher!
We decided to have dessert as we didn’t eat very much and they were ok. Sharon had the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, she loved that.
This was a very short lunch and I am afraid we will not be visiting this place again in the future. I must say though, considering we have been going to different places for our monthly lunches for over a year now that was the first place that wasn’t up to scratch. So well done everywhere else.
